Dear GRAIS Families,

Last week, we had another nice week at the intermediate school, with everyone settling into the routines of a new school year.  As always, we thank you for all your support at home.

Bus Evacuation Drill:

Per Mr. Rezendes, we will be conducting our rear door bus evacuation drill at the school in the morning on Wednesday, October 2nd.  This will be weather permitting. Please be sure to have students dressed appropriately, as they will be instructed to sit and slide out the rear door of the school bus.  Sneakers are a great idea for this day!  If you have any questions, please contact Ken at 508.763.9260x

Fourth Grade Nature’s Classroom:

If you are interested in having your FOURTH grader attend Nature’s Classroom in JUne, please join us on October 16th at 6 p.m.for a  PARENT/GUARDIAN information night. Nature's Classroom gives students the opportunity to learn in an outdoor classroom.  This year the trip will be  from June 3rd- June 6th. All information regarding this trip will be provided on the 16th.

After the Bell:

The After the Bell fall session registration form is now available. There are some really great classes and clubs being offered. For more information see below or lpachecho@freelake.org

Fall Individual Picture Day:

Individual student photos will be taken by Lifetouch on Tuesday, October 1st.  Information packets were sent home with all students on Monday, the 23rd.

Hispanic Heritage Month:

On September 17th, 1968, the United States Congress passed a law, which requested the president to make a proclamation declaring September 15th and 16th the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Week, and President Lyndon B. Johnson officially signed that law. There were several other measures made along the way, and it was President George H.W. Bush who declared the current 31-day period from September 15th to October 15th as National Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM).  GRAIS students are currently enjoying hearing some fun facts about HHM on our daily morning announcements, as well as viewing some beautiful and informative slides in our main lobby that highlight contributions from the likes of Sonia Sotomayer, Frida Kahlo, Oscar De La Hoya, and Ellen Ochoa.  Hispanic authors, artists, athletes, musicians, and more will also be covered throughout the year, not only during this space of time.

Fun Run PTO Fundraiser:

Our GRAIS fundraiser is up and running working to get to our goal of $30,000 all at MYBOOSTER.COM.  We would love to see all students signed up on MYBOOSTER.COM. It’s easy and free! Once you Sign Up, here are a few things you can do:

  • Double Your Donation. After giving your donation, you can see if your employer will match your donation.

  • Share Button. Use easy templates to get the word out to family and friends about how they can support our school.

  • Student Star Video. Upload a photo of your student to MYBOOSTER.COM to create a fun video starring your student and share this on Facebook or via email or text to easily ask for a donation.

Click here to head to MYBOOSTER.COM and spread the word today! Thank you, families!
