Dear Intermediate School Families,

I trust you are all enjoying this gorgeous summer as much as I am!  As we get into full summer mode, I just wanted to reach out with a few reminders, and then will pester you no further!  May the next ten weeks bring plenty of sunshine, laughter, much-needed rest, and cherished family moments!

Summer Reading:

If you haven't already, please take a moment to review the reading list choices and the grade-level summer reading assignments on our website.  Encouraging children to read over the summer is a great way to keep their minds engaged, and reading just a few books can make a big difference, so I included a list of recommendations for additional books too.

Bus Release Form:

Beginning at the intermediate school level, children may, with parent/guardian consent, be released from the bus without an adult present to receive them at their stop.  If you are opting to allow your student to be released from the bus without an adult present, please complete and return this form to cbarboza@freelake.org.  We MUST have a new form each year, so if your student had a consent completed last year, we do need one for 2024.

Open House and Class Placements:

I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for a new school year at our open house event on August 29th at 5:45 p.m.  I realize folks may be squeezing in end-of-summer family activities, so I encourage you to go make memories and not worry about missing this event.  Every child will be taken care of on opening day!  Class placement letters will be mailed out (USPS) from the central office on August 16th.  I truly appreciate your understanding of the complex process involved in creating balanced homeroom rosters, which takes most of the summer.  If you wish to get ahead of things, please see the general school supply lists, which remain on our website, for each grade.  Classroom items, such as boxes of tissues, rolls of paper towels, and wipes are always appreciated too!  https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3113/GRAIS/2206322/2024_Supply_Lists__1_.pdf
