Dear GRAIS Families,

Water donations for our annual field day—Survivor Day—may be dropped off in the vestibule any school day between now and the big event on the 14th.  Every little bit is appreciated!  Please remember to have the tee-shirt your child was given for the fun run ready to wear on the 14th.  Please contact the PTO at graispto@gmail.com if you need information on volunteering for the event.

Grade Four Math Classes:

We are taking the iReady spring diagnostic, which will show all that we've learned in math this year, including place value skills, multidigit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, fraction and decimal operation skills, measurement and data, as well as geometry. We are also working on project based math activities in class.

Grade Four ELA Classes:

The fourth graders are showing us all that they have learned this year by completing the iReady reading diagnostic this week. We are so excited to see the growth that they have made!

Grade Five Math Classes:

We are continuing our geometry and measurement unit. Students are learning how to convert between units of measurement using both the standard and metric systems, as well as how to find area and perimeter of 2-dimensional shapes and volume of rectangular prisms. We are also using our knowledge about 2-dimensional shapes to create hierarchies, which help us classify shapes.

Grade Five ELA Classes:

This week, students will be completing the spring iReady diagnostic.  We anticipate most students will achieve typical growth for the year, with many achieving their stretch growth in comprehension.  We are also gearing up for our Weslandia Civilization project which is always a highlight of the year.

PTO:

Many thanks to all the families who in any way contributed to fundraising events this year. We are so grateful that the PTO board has been able to fund our field trips this year as a result of your generosity.
