Dear GRAIS Families,

Water donations for our annual field day—Survivor Day—may be dropped off in the vestibule any school day between now and the big event on the 16th.  Every little bit is appreciated!  Please remember to have the tee-shirt your child was given for the fun run ready to wear on the 16th.

ELA Classes:

In fourth grade, students are enjoying finishing up our final fictional extended text, Shiloh. By the end of the year, we will compare/contrast the parts of the novel to parts of the movie version. Students also completed their final end of the year iReady diagnostic. Our students made some incredible progress from September to the end of the year.

In grade five, students are completing their spring iReady diagnostic assessment.  The novel study on The Tale of Despereaux is being wrapped up, and students are beginning to explore their creative side as they create a "Super Plant'' which will serve as the staple crop in their imagined civilization.

Math Classes:

In fourth grade math classes,  we have wrapped up our fraction unit as well as completed the end of the year iReady math diagnostic. We will continue to review all math skills that we have learned in fourth grade throughout the remainder of the year. The students will also be engaging in a variety of different geometry, measurement, and data activities in class.

Fifth graders are wrapping up their  unit on geometry and measurement. Students are diligently working to convert between units using both the metric and customary systems, in addition to finding volume. They are also working with two dimensional shape hierarchies.
