Laker Nation will be hosting an E-Fair (Enroll, Enlist, Employ) on February 3rd . During the school day, all students will have the opportunity to visit over 20 programs highlighting vocational/trade/military options after high school.
The Guidance Department and Nurse have made our “Care Closet” a tremendous success!! We have students utilizing the closet every day. While the clothing and toiletries have been needed, the biggest demand by far is food. Parents and families have really gone above and beyond to initially stock us with the supplies we have needed to get this off the ground. Please consider checking the Amazon wish list at the end of each Laker Nation letter as we update it regularly. Currently we are most in need of Walmart or Amazon gift cards so that we can restock the food items that we are almost out of (digital gift cards can be emailed to alombard@freelake.org, physical cards can be sent to the school, attention guidance department). Thank you again for all of the support we have received!

Health Screening Notification
9th and 10th grade students will have health screenings in the spring semester. The school nurse will administer the screenings for hearing, vision, body-mass index and posture; while the SBIRT screening will be done by the guidance department. The SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) program is related to the use of alcohol, marijuana and other substances. The goal of this program is to let the students know that we are available to reinforce healthy decisions and to assist them in obtaining support if needed for substance use related problems.
All screenings will be conducted confidentially in private one-on-one sessions. Results of the SBIRT screenings will not be included in your student’s school record nor with the state or any other agency. As with any school screening, you have the right to opt your child out of this state mandate. You are able to opt your child out of the screening by sending an email to kdessert@freelake.org. If you have any questions about the state screening programs please feel free to contact us.
