Laker Nation has wrapped up Term 1 and begun Term 2 with class meetings to remind students of academic, behavioral, and social expectations. Grades will be released on November 14th on the Aspen portal. We encourage you to view grades and plan to attend our Fall Parent/Teacher/Guardian Night on Monday, November 21st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
At our term meetings, we honored two seniors with our quarterly Laker Nation Awards. These awards are based on faculty recommendation for two students who exemplify our vision of the graduate core values of Achievement, Resilience, Honor, and Self-Advocacy. Congratulations to Jessica Miller and Connor Dingee! We also award a quarterly prize to one student in grades 11-12 with perfect punctuality. Congratulations to David Miller. All three of these students received a certificate and free Homecoming ticket.

The Apponequet National Honor Society chapter will be hosting its annual Induction Ceremony on November 28th at 6:00 pm. Seventy-one juniors and seniors will join this prestigious organization. This event was postponed to allow our junior and senior girl’s soccer team to continue their tournament play and they made us proud!
The Social Studies Department held their annual Voice of Democracy contest in their classrooms and finalists advanced to the school-wide competition on October 26th. Congratulations to:

Our annual Powderpuff Game was held on November 8th at 6:30 pm. Junior and senior girls competed, coached by our football team seniors, in a very competitive and popular flag football tournament on Griffith Field. The fan section was full and the juniors dominated! A great time was had by all!

Our joint DECA, AST, and Student Council venture to Washington D.C took place this Veteran’s Day weekend as each club set an agenda for sightseeing, competition, and artistic endeavors.
Our School Store is going mobile while under construction. Come see us after school every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to purchase a snack, drink, or candy. We'll be in the cafeteria hallway!
In the World of Sports:
Your Laker football team made history last Friday night with a 41-13 victory over Triton marking the first home playoff win in school history. Jackson Gagnier, Quinn Bennett, Jake Flounders, and Brody Joly all scored for the Lakers. Caiden Cyr, Austyn Travis, and Kevin O'Connor led the defensive effort. The Lakers advanced to the Round of 8 where they hit the road for a Thursday night matchup to take on North Reading followed by a fan bus filled with Laker fans.
The Winter online athletic registration has opened and will close on Wednesday November 23rd.
First day for all practice/tryouts is Monday November 28th.

The South Coast Unified Basketball Jamboree will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Durfee High School. ARHS players will battle in two rotations. Please help support our players at the 4:15 pm Opening Ceremony and in their matches. They have had a fantastic season!
The Apponequet boys and girls cross country team continued postseason action on Saturday afternoon with the Mooney Coaches Invitational. Laker student athletes receiving a medal for placing in the top 30 of their respective races include: Hannah Kuriscak, Keltey Fournier, Ryan Levesque, Isabella Sergio, Madeline Polochick, Tyler Gray, Nathan Levesque and Aydan Fournier. The cross country teams compete in the MIAA Division 2B Meet next Saturday.
Congratulations to our Laker volleyball team who won their MIAA 'D3 preliminary volleyball game vs. East Boston. The Lakers traveled to ORR on Friday for a 4:00 pm round of 32 games. Well done Lakers!

Reminder of Driving Instructions for Parents/Guardians
Drop Off - The school opens at 7:00 am and students are supervised in the Lecture Hall until the bell rings at 7:30 am.
Please note that both entrances are open for drop off this year. Vehicles must exit by the same side as they entered and are cautioned to drive carefully as our student drivers enter the building from the parking lot. Please contact the Main Office or SRO Bartholomew with any questions.
Pick Up - We continue to ask parents and guardians to park when arriving for pick up to ensure that cars do not block the bus lanes and Howland Road. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Main Office or SRO Bartholomew.
