The last week of October has been a great one! ARHS continues to engage students in active learning in all classes. AP students have been visited by our AP coordinator, Ms. Graf, and prepare for the testing process. Seniors face their first deadline of November 1st for college applications and their teachers and guidance counselors support their endeavors by writing recommendations and guiding their search process.

Congratulations:

The prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students who show exceptional academic promise as evidenced by their scores on the only qualifying test, the PSAT/NMSQT. Each year, more than 1.5 million students take the PSAT; of that number, only 50,000, or the top 5%, are recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program.  We are pleased to announce that one Apponequet senior has received that distinction. Congratulations to Amirtha Santhosh.

Core Value Recipients:

Alder Winters - Resilience

Jacob Sasville - Resilience

Charles Tyler - Random Act of Kindness

Ryan O’Connor - Random Act of Kindness

Punctuality Award: Jamie Lane

Our Unified Lakers Basketball team battled a hard fought loss against Seekonk at home this past week. The gymnasium was rocking and the athletes were fueled by the energy of the crowd. Laker pride was high, and team spirit and sportsmanship were in full effect.  Offensively, half of the team made contributions - Jonathan Earl, Rachel Westgate, Jayden McCloskey, and Abigail Travassos each scored 2 points; Jacob Guilherme and Brayden Dorsey each scored 6 points; Ashley Silva scored 8 points; and Alex Pappas scored an incredible 14 points! Defensively, the Lakers worked hard to block shots and track down the ball, including particularly notable performances from Jonathan Earl, Maripat Manley, Zoe Trinque, Ashley Silva, Abigail Travassos, and Jeremy Marino. Collectively, the Lakers played an impressive and amazing game that all team members and Laker nation should be proud of! You have one more chance to see our Unified Lakers live at home on

November 2nd at 3:30 pm in our gymnasium. Go Lakers!

Next week Papa Gino's in Taunton (across from Home Depot) is hosting a fundraiser to support the Class of 2024! All you have to do to raise money is eat pizza! This fundraiser is going on ALL DAY from 11 am to 8 pm on November 1st which is perfect since you don't have school that day! You can meet some friends for lunch or dinner, order takeout or even DoorDash your order! 20% of ALL SALES goes directly to the Class of 2024! Thank you in advance for the support!

In the World of Sports:

The football team has now won 6 straight heading into the playoffs with a win Saturday night over Greater New Bedford, 16-0. Jackson Gagnier and Harry Lemieux scored for the Lakers on offense while Kevin O'Connor and Dylan Bradley led the defense. The team has the week off but will likely be hosting the first home football playoff game in nearly 10 years on November 4th.

Reminder of Driving Instructions for Parents/Guardians

Drop Off - The school opens at 7:00 am and students are supervised in the Lecture Hall until the bell rings at 7:30 am.

Please note that both entrances are open for drop off this year. Vehicles must exit by the same side as they entered and are cautioned to drive carefully as our student drivers enter the building from the parking lot.  Please contact the Main Office or SRO Bartholomew with any questions.

Pick Up - We continue to ask parents and guardians to park when arriving for pick up to ensure that cars do not block the bus lanes and Howland Road. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Main Office or SRO Bartholomew.
