Greetings Lakers!
Welcome to October. MCAS letters have been sent home to families with student results. We have seen gains in all MCAS areas and a big shout out to our Biology teachers and students who performed extraordinarily well! These are just a few reasons for our recent designation as a “School of Recognition” by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. As one of only 10 high schools in the Commonwealth, we are proud of this achievement and will continue to explore pathways to the best education for all of our students.

The ARHS Safety Committee will be meeting next week to discuss our security protocols, our fire drills, and to plan an announced ALICE drill this year. The committee consists of teachers, guidance counselors, the school nurse, administrators, and the SRO. We will communicate our plans to you and to our students as we balance practice safety and ensuring our students feel safe.
Important information for parents and guardians of grade 9 students. Students were issued Chromebooks with plastic protective covers. These covers are essential for the protection of the device. Damage caused by removal or to a device without a protective cover, will void the insurance and result in payment.

A Message shared with our students and staff to educate and celebrate:
It is Rosh Hashanah beginning at sundown on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, and ending at nightfall on Friday, October 4, 2024. Rosh Hashanah, which means "head of the year" in Hebrew, marks the Jewish New Year.
Some of the key aspects of Rosh Hashanah include:
Reflection: a time for contemplation, self-examination, and setting intentions for the coming year.
Shofar: The blowing of the shofar, a ram's horn, serves as a spiritual wake-up call.
Traditions: Celebrants often eat symbolic foods like apples dipped in honey, representing hopes for a sweet new year.
Community: Many attend special synagogue services and gather with family and friends.
Rosh Hashanah reminds us of the importance of personal growth, forgiveness, and new beginnings. As we recognize this holiday, we celebrate the diversity within our school community and the shared human experiences that connect us all.
