Laker Nation News - 3-22-24
The theme of upcoming weeks is an exploration of who we are and who we can be. We’ve begun Spring Sports and we are reminded to be the best Lakers we can be on and off the field. We have visited other schools to learn and to compete. And we have also been engaged, and look forward to, opportunities to learn and career pathways to explore.
STEAM the Streets rocked Apponequet! This presentation to grades 9 & 10 was a 60 minute multimedia outreach campaign that uses culturally relevant methods to inspire underrepresented youth to pursue STEAM career pathways. The presentation blended STEM pathways with music and art, highlighting jobs in every STEM field which meet the creativity of art, music, and design. Also highlighted were STEAM inventions by black inventors and women. The DJ had the crowd singing and the students proudly proclaimed, “I am STEAM!” I bet we have some new future engineers!
On April 5th, grades 9-11 will engage in Career Day here at Apponequet, with 57 presenters to help students explore future pathways.
Grade 12 will be dismissed early. Senior Lakers are welcome to attend if they choose to participate.
ELA MCAS os March 26 & 27. Grade 10 students have been reminded to be on time, charge their Chromebook, and show their skills! Presentation to grade 10
March 15 and 16, 15 ARHS Choir members participated in the 2024 SEMSBA Music Festival. They rehearsed with students from 35 other high schools in southeastern Mass, and gave a concert on Saturday afternoon. Students auditioned for this festival in February, and were invited to participate based on their audition scores.

tournaments (including a Just Dance and Madden tournament), Laser Tag, Deal or No Deal and much much more! Bring a canned good for each tournament you want to play in and bring a school ID for entry! Check out Instagram arhs.nation for the viral commercial!
