Happy November! Laker Nation celebrated Veterans Day with a grade 11 Civics Project Kickoff. Thank you to the Social Studies Department and to the veterans of Freetown VFW Post 6642 for attending and teaching the students about the meaning of the thirteen steps to fold the American flag. Students then explored topics and formed groups for their year-long Civics Project, a graduation requirement in the state of Massachusetts. Seniors, Austin, Dominick, and Graeson presented to the Class of 2025, explaining how their project last year affected change at Apponequet.
Students are excited about their topics which range from fixing Lakeville potholes and building stadium seating at Griffith’s Field to topics such as Mental Health initiatives and drunk driving prevention. We applaud these young scholars for following their passion and engaging in civic action!
