A look into our classrooms:
Art:
Kindergarten students used cardboard tubes to make cute turkeys. This is great scissor practice!
Grade one students completed their cool color paintings.
Grade two students began block-shaped buildings in the style of Paul Klee.
Grade three students colored gratitude agamographs. An agamograph is an art form that uses optical illusion to change the image seen by the viewer based on their perspective.
Music:
All classes K-2 are working on fun, Thanksgiving songs and games this week! The 3rd graders are working hard to prepare for their winter concert which will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 @ 10:00am in the AES gymnasium!
Library:
This week in Library we are wrapping up our Booksgiving! Thanks to everyone in our school community, every student was able to take home two books of their choice. It was so fun seeing all the excitement of getting a new book and students sharing their love of reading with each other!
PE
This week in PE we are continuing a mini unit getting to play with scooters. These weeks are about building leg strength and students are really working hard to move the scooter to play Spaghetti and Meatball Tag. In the game if a student is tagged they must complete a leg exercise (5 squats) before re-entering the game.
Kindergarten
This week we reviewed the letters, sounds, and numbers completed so far. We worked on many Thanksgiving projects and discussed what we are thankful for. Our Thanksgiving feast was so much fun! We sang, colored, wore our turkey hats, and ate with all of our friends! Happy Thanksgiving!
Grade 1
This week the first graders had a terrific time at the Fall Festival and Hoedown. Children in Mrs. Day’s class and Mrs. Rebello’s class performed their square dances for families and all of the first graders participated in some fun fall crafts like leaf print T-shirts. In addition, we also learned all about the first Thanksgiving and created some exciting projects. We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and long weekend!
Grade 2
The 2nd grade teachers would like to wish all families a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! We in 2nd grade are VERY thankful for our wonderful students!
Grade 3
In Grade 3 we have had some walking field trips to the public library; what a wonderful resource for our children to learn about!
We have mostly wrapped up our study of the Wampanoag and Pilgrims, and will move on to a science unit about life cycles after the break
Happy Thanksgiving to all; we are grateful for your support of us and your amazing children! Thank you for all you do.
Nurse’s Nook:
Hope everyone is able to enjoy some time off from school and get some well deserved rest! Our bodies need to refuel: good sleep, good food, and good company!
*Remember to wash your hands and cover your coughs *
Counselor’s Corner:
“Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” - Donald DeMarco
Teaching young children what gratitude means can sometimes be a bit challenging. In simple terms, gratitude is being thankful for what you have but more importantly the people in your life by showing appreciation for those who love and take care of you. Children can show gratitude at home and school by helping others or by simply saying ‘thank you’. While many children are thankful to have material items such as toys and video games, it is our job as caretakers to ensure that children understand and appreciate the relationships they have with family and friends. I wish all of our AES families a wonderful Thanksgiving!
