A HUGE Thank You to the PTO and Mr. V. for running a successful and organized field day this week for grades K and 1. AES Needs Your Help!

Would you like to be an AES Pen Pal?

Each summer children move to Lakeville and need a friend when they start school.

YOU could be that friend!

As a pen pal, your responsibility will be to contact the new student through letters, phone calls, emails or hopefully play dates during the summer. Our goal is for the new student to have YOU as a friend and feel included in our AES community when school starts in September. You may also be lucky enough to be in the same class too!

If you would like to be an AES pen pal, please have your family complete the information on this form and return it to me by Friday, June 7th. Thank you for being a great AES student!

ROCCO the Snake is HERE at AES!

Thank you to the Girl Scout Troops 76200 & 77318! We are so excited to see how big Rocco can get! The hope is that every Assawompset student and their family members visit Assawompset over the summer and help Rocco grow longer and longer!

A NOTE FROM THE PTO:

In an effort to gather valuable feedback from our parent/guardian community, the PTO has created the following survey to gain feedback about this year’s PTO events/programs. Your feedback and support would be greatly appreciated!

A Look Into Our Classrooms:

ART

Ms. T. is looking for parent volunteers of third graders to help put tiles on the walls next week, preferably before or immediately after school. If interested, please reach out: annetavares@freelake.org

MUSIC

K: This week in K we worked on a fun song and played our instruments using our new vocabulary words. We also played a fun game passing a stuffed animal fish to the beat.

1st: This week in first grade we reviewed the instruments of the orchestra and played a few fun games.

2nd: This week in second grade we reviewed the instruments of the orchestra and added a few new games.

3rd: This week the third graders had the opportunity to present their talents in a class talent show. Looking forward to more performances next week!

LIBRARY:

We are coding with robots this week! We are using the Dash and Dot robots to reinforce coding skills we have learned throughout the school year.

Also, it is time to return your library books! Please take a look around for any books your child has taken out. Notes are going out this week when your child visits the library. Also, if you are unable to find the book, please send in another copy of the book or a book that is very similar. Thank you!

PE

Students in all grades did an outstanding job at field day! A heartfelt thank you to all students and teachers for their teamwork and effort in completing all 12 stations.

A special shout-out to the PTO and parent volunteers for their invaluable help and time dedicated to this event. The day wouldn't have been such a success without all of you!

KINDER

This week in Kindergarten, students have been reading nonfiction books to gain more knowledge about the different stages in the life cycle of a butterfly. Students have been busy observing how the caterpillars have changed since they came into the classroom. Students have been recording their observations in their science notebooks. In math, students continue their work on shapes and have been building three-dimensional shapes from building materials, composing shapes from smaller shapes, and drawing shapes. Students are making great connections and using their knowledge of shapes and symmetry when they see butterflies! Kindergarten students had so much fun participating in field day!!

GRADE 1

It is great to be a first grader! This past Friday all the first graders were treated to a FANTASTIC assembly. The program was called Magic of Lyn, who is an illusionist. All of the first grade teachers and students had an amazing time. On Monday, we had so much fun during our field day. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with this event. On Tuesday, we had a wonderful time going to the Buttonwood Park Zoo. Thank you to all our chaperons. We really appreciate you joining us. This week students will be working on our animal projects and other end of the year activities. This Friday we look forward to watching the high school seniors match through the halls as they get ready to graduate this Friday. Congratulations to all the Apponequet Seniors, class of 2024!

GRADE 2

Second grade is gearing up to have a fabulous end to the school year. Classes are preparing for many activities to review the skills taught this year. We can’t wait to play review games and make a few more second grade memories before the end of the year!

GRADE 3

Grade 3 enjoyed a fabulous field trip to Plymouth Patuxet last week. The kids were great: well behaved; knowledgeable about what they were seeing and learning; asking super questions. You can be proud of them; we sure are!

We also visited GRAIS and the kids had a tour and visited a fourth grade classroom.

This week third grade is busily preparing for our Wax Museum, which will take place Thursday, June 13, from 10 to 11 am. It will be in the gym, and you may come at any time. We hope to see everyone there!
