A look into our classrooms:

Art:

Kindergarten students did an AMAZING job on their hermit crab homes!

Grade one knocked Ms. T.’s socks off with their Monet paintings.

Grade two dazzled with color temperature hand designs.

Grade three, sadly, is on their last AES project, self-portraits in words. We’ll miss you!

Library:

The Book Fair was held last week in the library.  Students were having a great time purchasing books at our Buy One, Get One Free book fair. Thank you to all the families for your support!

This week, students in all grade levels are playing Coding with Awbie by Osmo. It is a great way to solidify the coding skills we have been working on throughout the year!

Also, we are not checking out any more library books for the rest of the year. Please take a look for any library books you may have at your house. Students can return the books to the library on any day- they do not have to wait until their next library day!

PE

This week in PE we are outside practicing for field day. Field day will be Thursday June 8th for grade 1 & K and Friday June 9th for grade 2 & 3.

MUSIC

K: This week we did a fun pool noodle routine to keep the steady beat and did a rhythm activity with colorful puffy balls!

1st: The first graders are hard at work prepping for their habitat showcase!

2nd: This weed the 2nd graders played some fun instruments and also played a rhythm activity.

3rd: This week the talent shows have begun….and I’m so impressed with all of the AES kiddos!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten, students have been reading nonfiction books to gain more knowledge about the different stages in the life cycle of a butterfly.  Students have been busy observing how the caterpillars have changed since they came into the classroom.  Students have been recording their observations in their science notebooks.  In math, students continue their work on shapes and have been building three-dimensional shapes from building materials, composing shapes from smaller shapes, and drawing shapes.  Students are making great connections and using their knowledge of shapes and symmetry when they see butterflies!

Grade 1

In Grade 1, students have been working on researching and writing about animals in various habitats.  Students have been learning how to write Informative Writing pieces while understanding how to identify animal facts from books, videos, and other credible resources.  We will be presenting the writing pieces along with a Habitat Visual Craft as we invite families in for our “Grade 1 Animal Research Exhibition” on Thursday, June 15th.  Please be on the lookout for a flyer with more information.  In addition to our writing, we are also answering the question of the week, “What traditions do you know?”.  Students explore the idea of various traditions within families, heritage, communities, holidays, and seasons.

Grade 2

In grade 2 the students have been busy measuring and finishing up our work with fractions and geometry. They are also completing important end-of-year benchmark testing in both reading and math and are working very hard! We can’t believe it is June this week and look forward to many fun events coming up in the next few weeks as we bring the school year to a close.

Grade 3

We are super busy in Grade 3, working on our wax museum project and looking forward to sharing it with families! We are also getting excited for all the fun events the PTO has scheduled for our soon-to-be fourth graders. In between it all, we also have Field Day next week; the end of the year race-to-the-finish has begun.

Thank you for all you’ve done this year to support your children, their teachers and other staff members, and our district. We appreciate you!

Would you like to be an AES Pen Pal?

Each summer children move to Lakeville and need a friend when they start school.  YOU could be that friend!  As a pen pal, your responsibility will be to contact the new student through letters, phone calls, emails or even play dates during the summer.  This way the new student will have you as a friend and feel included as a part of AES when school starts in September.  You may also be lucky enough to be in the same class!

If you would like to be an AES pen pal, please have your family complete the information on this form and return it to me by Friday, June 16th.
