Congratulations to ARHS
Apponequet Regional High School was named a 2024 School of Recognition by the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), one of only 10 High Schools in the Commonwealth and one of only 55 total schools K-12. The last time the high school received this important recognition was 2017 and it is a testament to the hard work of our staff, students, administration and parents and the daily collaboration to ensure we continue to provide a high quality education for every student.
According to Erics Gonzalves Associate Commissioner for Data and Accountability “our 2024 schools of recognition demonstrate high levels of achievement and growth and are making progress toward targets. Our criteria consider results for all students and also emphasizes the performance of the school’s lowest performing students group”
MCAS
Per the state timeline printed MCAS parent/guardian reports for students participating in standard MCAS tests and MCAS-Alt will be delivered to districts in late September. They have not arrived in the district as of today, schools will coordinate the processing and mailing of these reports in a timely manner.
After the Bell
After the Bell Registration Form is now available. There are many classes and clubs to choose from at AES, FES,GRAIS & FLMS. Please click on the link below.
As many of our students have learned, not only on Constitution Day (September 17), but throughout their educational journey, the opportunity to vote in local, state and national elections is an important privilege given to us by the Constitution. The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age to 18 and thanks to the work of the ARHS Student Council and our two Town Clerks, the opportunity for any student 18 and over (or who will be 18 prior to November 5th) to register to vote, will be provided in the cafeteria on October 16th.
From ARHS Boosters for ALL families k-12- LAKER GEAR
We are writing regarding our new online school store for Laker and Athletic specific apparel. Boosters have been working directly with Evan Swan from the Swan Brothers in MA over the last 9 months and we are excited to have the store up and running. The store will remain open year round, with new items being added as we continue to make enhancements. Our goal is to support families K-12 but not take away from our K-5 gear fundraisers.
For seniors we have also been working to create a "Senior Shop". 10% of ALL proceeds go to the ARHS Athletic Booster Club as we work together to support the athletic initiatives and everything is mailed directly to your house.

This story, should you choose to read it, is a gentle reminder that we must strive to fully live in peace and in a good place and that we should focus our energy on the big picture, not “the little dot.”
We might not have a choice in what is happening or how someone is acting, but we do have a choice in how we react or let it affect our lives. We can see the glass half full or we can choose to see the glass half empty. No matter how much we try to understand the past, we cannot change it. What we can change is the narrative we apply to our present and our future! Holding on to negativity and anger builds negativity and anger. What and how we discuss the past and what has happened is an indication of who we are today!
Everyday our Faculty, Staff, Paraprofessionals, Nurses, Secretaries, Tem Chairs, OT/PT, BCBA’s and School Psychologists, Counselors, Advisors, Curriculum Leaders, Assistant Principals, Directors, Coaches, SRO’s, IT and Library Staff, Scheduler, Maintenance, Food Service and Custodial Staff, as well as Central Office Staff and Administration, First Responders, School Committee, Select Board, and all Town Employees, as well as all our wonderful community partners, work diligently to help our students feel hopeful and excited about their future. We must incessantly thank them for all they continue to do and we must all model kindness and respect for each other, even in disagreement, as our students watch everything that is said and done.
Be well,
Alan
