From ARHS Boosters for ALL families k-12- LAKER GEAR
We are writing regarding our new online school store for Laker and Athletic specific apparel. Boosters have been working directly with Evan Swan from the Swan Brothers in MA over the last 9 months and we are excited to have the store up and running. The store will remain open year round, with new items being added as we continue to make enhancements. Our goal is to support families K-12 but not take away from our K-5 gear fundraisers.
For seniors we have also been working to create a "Senior Shop". 10% of ALL proceeds go to the ARHS Athletic Booster Club as we work together to support the athletic initiatives and everything is mailed directly to your house.

Hispanic Heritage Month
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. The observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. The theme for 2024 is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.”
Each school has developed their own way of celebrating HHM and we encourage you to ask your building Principal what is being done to celebrate and honor the contributions of Hispanic Americans.
United Way of Fall River
Thank you to the UnitedWay of Fall River and KRR inc for creating and fully stocking a Teacher Care closet in the Teachers room at FES. This is intended to help teachers with some supply needs that they might run out of during the week.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is hard for me to believe that we are already in the third week of the year and it reminds me once again that time is so fleeting and that we need to ensure that moments are cherished and welcomed with gratitude. The start of the school year seems ages ago; our focus, as we head into October, must remain on students & staff.
This week the MCAS and Accountability Data will be released (it is currently embargoed) and we look forward to sharing each school's progress with you, while ensuring our areas of growth are an emphasis moving forward. However, we truly understand that MCAS is one measure in time and there are other benchmarks, both academically and otherwise for us to review.
The story below, should you choose to read it, is something I heard many years ago, shared here two years ago and was “returned” to me again this week by a parent who is one of the most introspective, kind, empathetic and self-reflective educators I have ever worked with.
We've all heard about “karma” and the idea that what goes around, comes around, or what we send comes back to us. It has been said that what we become is based upon what we think! If we speak ill of others or treat them as unimportant, then others, when we least expect it, will do the same to us; but if we treat others with respect, we will be respected by the majority. The premise is simple and in a moment of looking at what can go wrong, I urge all of us to look at the wonders of what is going well despite the multiple challenges everyone is facing. We must unite and embrace the light of success rather than the darkness of negativity, and as we teach our children daily - all we can control is our reaction to situations.
I hope this story resonates with you and, more importantly, that each of us “sends” out positivity this weekend in turn, it is returned to us.
As I work daily with our Faculty, Staff, Paraprofessionals, Nurses and Nursing staff, Secretaries, Counselors, Advisors, Curriculum Leaders, Assistant Principals, Directors, Coaches, SRO’s, IT and Library Staff, Scheduler, Maintenance, Food Service and Custodial Staff, as well as Central Office Staff and Administration, First Responders, School Committee, Select Board, and all Town Employees, as well as all our wonderful community partners, I am reminded that many of these people send out kindness, a wonderful work ethic and incessant positivity each day that they are truly empowering examples for our students. To those who do, we all say thank you! And the student outcomes that we see in our schools are in many ways a result of what has been thrown out to our students!
Have a wonderful week everyone and send out some kindness, some appreciation and some warmth to those who give of themselves and to you and your loved ones.
Be well, be kind and be… in peace.
Alan
