Good evening FLRSD,
As we get ready to say congratulations to our seniors who will be graduating on Friday night and preparing for their next chapter I wanted, on behalf of all of us, to thank them. I see the excitement in my own son, who also walks the stage at his high school on June 7th for his certificate of completion, and it is our hope that you reflect on everything you did to get to this point. You deserve to give yourself the opportunity to breathe a sigh of relief, to pause, think about your journey and hopefully find lessons and joy in the journey. Whatever pathway you have chosen: be it a gap year, the workforce, military or post secondary education we applaud you and look forward to hearing all about your next chapter. Congratulations to every parent, caretaker, loved one for everything you did to lead your student to this wonderful day.
The ARHS graduation is without hesitation the most special graduation I have ever witnessed. Each senior chooses an adult who has most inspired them, within the district, to deliver their diploma. It is wonderful to see and yet I also hope that each senior will recognize those who were beacons of light in their journey, beyond who was chosen to stand at the ceremony.
The last few weeks our seniors have been reunited with their foundational schools, recognized and celebrated in Music Department Awards Celebration, Senior Awards Night, National Honor Society, by attending prom, playing in various state tournaments, enjoying end of year club celebrations, participating in the incredible art show and so much more. Keep capturing those moments and it is our hope that you will continue to look back at the positives you experienced while attending school here.
Yet we must never forget that so many of our students are “graduating” to new schools. Whether one is attending AES or FES, GRAIS, FLMS or ARHS(or another local HS) next year for the first time, we congratulate each and everyone of our grade 3, grade 5 and grade 8 students for their important academic milestone.
In fairness, it would be wrong to single out individuals who worked so hard to make the last few weeks so special for our seniors(and all of our students across the district who will be moving schools) as inevitably someone gets left off the list. Yet the constant is the dedication of the staff and the administration to make the end of the year as memorable as possible for each class.
So instead I will say this:
Thank you to our principals and the faculty, all staff, custodians, food service and maintenance staff in each building. I will always believe and state emphatically that although ARHS is the school name on the diploma, the work done by PK-8 is the foundational springboard to graduation and therefore, this is your celebration as well. And as each student in pk, grade 3, 5 and 8 leaves your building please know the impact you had.
To all of our Grade 9-12 teachers and staff, thank you for your relentless pursuit of the well being of our students social-emotionally and academically.
Thank you to our Secretaries and Custodial/Maintenance staff, senior graduation advisors at the High School who collaborated to ensure everything goes smoothly from lines in order, to setting up the field and doing all the little things needed for such a successful event.
Thank you to our families who reached out and let teachers, staff and building administration of all grades know that you appreciated and were moved positively by something that took place over the last few years.
From everyone within the district,
WELL DONE!
