Good evening FLRSD,
Just a reminder: There is no school on Tuesday, March 5th - Primary Elections!
As I tried to think about a message for today with the blooming of spring inching closer and the days continuing to be in the 50’s, I find myself thinking of a story that was shared with me by someone who spoke of their own life experiences. Should you choose to read this, the saying “hope is a small rebellion” comes to mind and as the woman in the story shows us, the negativity of some should never dim our hope or light.
Unlike the seasons which arrive whether we are excited or not, we have a choice regardless of what is happening to us or within us. Doing something is a choice, and doing nothing is a choice. Assuming the world does NOT revolve around us is a choice just as assuming things are ALL about us is a choice. Yet, whatever we choose, we must understand our choices and how our energy impacts others and that impact is far reaching and generational. For us to bloom, personally and collectively, we must choose to be collaborative, kind, self reflective, honest, forgiving and altruistic. For if we choose other avenues, we will wilt as a society. We cannot simply see things our way! Just as the woman decided to not listen to her friends about her beloved peach tree. Instead she remained hopeful! It reminds me of the incredible hope and belief our students bring with them everyday.
I am reminded of a wonderful quote by Gwendolyn Brooks, that ironically I saw first in the underground transportation system in Washington DC, and the thoughts of Patty De Liosa as she processed this quote.
“Conduct your blooming in the noise and whip of the whirlwind.” “If not now, when? If not here, where?” We are where we are, and we do not have to alter the means to our “location” if we alter the ability to bloom emotionally. It is here where our lives can either flower or fade or vibrate with beauty or negativity. We are invited to select our inner landscape, whether we see it as an abundant garden or a desolate lonely desert. We can choose (or refuse) to give up the myriad of complaints and negative reactions that may seem roundly justified by our circumstances. We can fill our daily hours bursting with love or overcome with anger. Anyone who finds the path that embraces a blooming life is indeed as beautiful as the flowering that we see every spring.
“Conducting your blooming is a conscious choice.”
Author ~ Patty De Liosa
It is with tremendous pride that I see so many of our Faculty, Paraprofessionals,Secretaries, Counselors, IT and Library staff, Nurses, Coaches, Advisors, School Psychologists, Schedulers, Principals, Assistant Principals, Directors, Team Chairs, SRO, Food Service Maintenance and Custodial staffs along with Central Office Administration and Staff, First Responders, and Community Partners seeing their role as one filled with HOPE and belief in our students. All of the above certainly conduct their blooming to create a community garden rich in depth and beauty and clearly choose abundance daily! For that they deserve our thanks!
May your week be filled with joy, may those you love continue to bloom due to your support and may it be returned to you two fold.

Apponequet Regional High School
We are proud to announce that ARHS students received the highest qualifying score percentage rate of 3 and higher in the entire South Coast with an 80% success rate. This is attributed to our faculty, both our outstanding AP teachers and all others k-12, who work so diligently to deliver exceptional experiences and of course our wonderful students. We are incredibly proud of EVERY student who takes an AP class regardless of their score as the habits of mind developed in these courses are tools for life.
Just as we are so proud of our students who focus on the arts, decide to attend Vocational Schools, enlist in the military, work to become first responders, enter the workforce or are simply finding their way. Every student’s journey is special and significant.
